1974-1980 Medical education at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich
1980 Doctor of Experimental Endocrinology, Diploma with honors.
1980 – 1983 work at the LMU Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology, Munich
1983 – 1990 additional training with a specialization in internal medicine, endocrinology and diabetology at the LMU Medical Clinic Innnestadt, Munich
1989 appointment as privatdocent, habilitation with a specialization in internal medicine
1990 Specialist in Internal Medicine (with laboratory diagnostics and radiology)
Appointment to a permanent position at the Institute of Psychiatry. Max Planck as Head of the Research Group for Clinical Neuroendocrinology and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Clinical Chemistry
1991 received a specialization in endocrinology
1995 appointment as professor
2004 additional qualification as an andrologist
