Biography

After studying medicine at the University of Mainz, Dr. Stern completed a habilitation (doctorate in medicine with the possibility of teaching in a professorship) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Technical University of Munich. In the early 90s, he specialized in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology and neonatology. Later he qualified as an AHD physician (adults with congenital heart disease).

Since 1989, continuous scientific work in the field of magnetic resonance imaging in congenital heart disease.

He began his medical career at the University Hospital in Mainz, then at the University Hospital LMU Munich.

He worked in the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the German Heart Center in Munich, and did an internship at a clinic in London.

1994-1998 – Head Physician of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf.

Since 1994 he has been a lecturer in pediatric cardiology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Hamburg. Since 1999 he has been the founder and senior consultant of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Working Group of the Clinic for Congenital Heart Diseases of the German Heart Center in Munich. Currently consulting at the M1 Children’s Clinic in Munich.
