Biography

Prof. Dr. Maximilian Schultheiß received his medical education in Berlin and Würzburg, completed his doctoral thesis, and obtained full European board certification (FEBO). He finished his ophthalmology training in 2013.

He worked for many years in leading university hospitals in Germany — in Tübingen, Stuttgart, and Hamburg (UKE) — where he successively held positions as senior physician, personal senior physician, and chief senior physician. In 2018, he successfully completed his habilitation, and in 2022 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Tübingen.

Since 2023, he has been a specialist at Augenklinik Herzog Carl-Theodor in Munich.

Recipient of national research awards and BMBF grants; member of DOG, MOG, and the Retinological Society; Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology.
