Some participants received 500 mg of nicotinamide twice daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Findings:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Among people who began taking nicotinamide shortly after their first skin cancer diagnosis, the risk of developing a new cancer dropped by roughly 50%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The most pronounced protective effect was seen in squamous cell carcinoma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For basal cell carcinoma, the effect was less significant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In transplant recipients, the benefit was weaker overall but still substantial when treatment began early.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">Experts emphasize that the timing of treatment initiation is crucial \u2014 the earlier prevention starts after diagnosis, the greater the protective effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">Nicotinamide is not a \u201cmiracle drug,\u201d but part of a comprehensive prevention strategy that also includes consistent sun protection, regular dermatologic checkups, and treatment of precancerous skin changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:13px\">\u00a0Deutsches \u00c4rzteblatt, Freitag, 26.
