For those affected by age-related macular degeneration (AMD)\u2014a leading cause of severe vision loss in mature adults\u2014the limits of conventional treatment have long posed a difficult reality. Today, a new era of possibility is emerging, led by the PRIMA subretinal photoelectric implant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">Developed in partnership between Stanford University and Pixium Vision, the PRIMA system offers groundbreaking hope to those who have lost central vision due to the dry form of AMD. Presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology\u2019s annual meeting and reviewed in the New England Journal of Medicine, this innovation is redefining what\u2019s possible\u2014restoring the ability to distinguish letters and numbers, and even enabling patients to read once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The implant consists of 378 micro-photovoltaic cells embedded in a slim silicone sheet, placed beneath the retina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">A miniature camera, elegantly integrated into eyewear, transmits visual information as infrared light directly to the implant, transforming light into electrical signals that stimulate the visual pathways in real time. Patients can even adjust the scale of the image for enhanced comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">In a landmark international clinical study\u2014spanning 17 top clinics, 10 of them in Germany\u201438 individuals with advanced AMD received the PRIMA implant. One year after the procedure, vision improved by at least 10 optometric letters for 81% of participants, and 84% regained the ability to read. Satisfaction rates were exceptionally high. Most importantly, any post-surgical complications were successfully managed by leading specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">As Professor Frank Holz of Bonn University Hospital remarks: \u201cThe latest generation of retinal implants offers remarkable advantages and ushers in real prospects for restoring sight to those affected by macular degeneration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">Through privileged access to Germany\u2019s premier clinics and world-renowned experts, clients can now explore truly transformative options.
